2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau Updates

 

August 23, 2009

 

08/23/09 (5:20 PM) - Congratulations to France's Adrien Allain, who wins the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau main event! Runner-up Inwook Choi went all-in with A-Q against Allain's A-3, but a three on the flop sealed the deal for the champion. For the win, Allain picks up HK $3,035,000 while Choi gets HK $1,660,000.

 

08/23/09 (4:30 PM) - The Poker Pack's JC Tran has now been eliminated from the main event when Adrien Allain's A-Q made a straight against Tran's A-8 two pair. Tran walks away with HK $910,540. We are now heads-up between Adrien Allain and Inwook Choi!

08/23/09 (3:05 PM) - We are down to three players as David Steicke has now been eliminated. Steicke went all-in but his pocket nines ran into Choi's pocket kings. There are three players left: Choi, Allain, and Tran.

08/23/09 (1:50 PM) - Christopher Chau has been eliminated in 5th place after going all-in and getting called by Allain and Choi. The latter two checked to the river and Choi ended up making pair tens to eliminate Choi.

08/23/09 (1:10 PM) - The final table has been pure chaos thus far as four players have already busted out in around half an hour of play. Five players remain - Inwook Choi, David Steicke, JC Tran, Adrien Allein, and Chris Chau. The latest victim was Michael Woo, whose Q-6 ran into Allain's pocket kings.

08/22/09 (11:45 PM) - The final table of the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau is set! Several big names, including David Steicke and The Poker Pack's very own JC Tran, are in the running for the title of Asian Poker Tour champion!

 

08/22/09 (6:40 PM) - 19 players are left in an action-packed Day 2. The Poker Pack's JC Tran is near the top of the leaderboard with around 270,000 in chips. Meanwhile, three other side events are going on today: the ladies event, the Bwin Shootout event, and the 777Baby Casino tournament.

 

08/22/09 (3:40 PM) - With Lee Jae Do's elimination, all players are now in the money! 40 players are left in the tournament, with each looking to take home first prize.

 

08/22/09 (2:10 PM) - With 58 left in contention, the players go on a short break. Day 1 chip leader Eugene Teh, Cecila Nordenstasm, and The Poker Pack member Steve Sung have all hit the rail, while David Steicke has been terrorizing the field by busting out a number of players. The Poker Pack member JC Tran, meanwhile, is now third in chips.

 

08/22/09 (12:10 PM) - Just a short while into Day 2 at the 2009 Asian Poker Tour's main event, three players have already busted out. Check back later in the day for more information and details!

 

08/22/09 (12:10 AM) - 88 players survive to make it to Day 2 of the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau. Eugene Teh and Stuart Scott are the chip leaders while The Poker Pack's JC Tran and Steve Sung are still in the running. Check back for Day 2 action!

08/21/09 (8:40 PM) - 78 players are left in the field with a couple of levels left in the day. The Poker Pack's JC Tran and Steve Sung are still in the running, while David "Chino" Rheem, Quinn Do, and Nam Le have already made their exits.

 

08/21/09 (6:20 PM) - Out of almost 200 players at the start of the day, the field for Day 1B has now been reduced to 98. Level 6 is drawing to a close, which means that we still have three levels of poker as well as a dinner break left.

 

08/21/09 (4:50 PM) - It's official: the total field for the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau main event is 326 players. 40 will be in the money, with first place getting a coolHK $3,035,000.

 

08/21/09 (3:20 PM) - There are 153 players left in Day 1B as John Juanda and some other latecomers come in to take their seats.

 

08/21/09 (12:10 PM) - Day 1B of the main event is now underway! With the field today expected to reach 200 players, tune in as The Poker Pack, Johnny Chan, and a slew of other big name pros duke it out for the chance to make it to Day 2 tomorrow!

08/20/09 (11:05 PM) - Congratulations to The Poker Pack's JC Tran, who himself does all the hunting in The Poker Pack Headhunter event! JC busted out 16 other players to complete a demolition job and claim the big prize for himself!

08/20/09 (9:25 PM) - Supposedly the one being hunted down, bounty-player JC Tran is the one doing the hunting in the Poker Pack Headhunters event, busting out player after player and holding a substantial chip lead. Over in the main event, Day 1A is now down to 47 players.

08/19/09 (11:50 PM) - Congratulations to Team Korea, who won the Battle of the Nations event! The team of David "Chino" Rheem, Steve Sung, and Brandon Wong dominated the event and won HK $406,060! Team Vietnam's Allan Le took home the top individual award and won HK $95,700.

 

08/19/09 (10:10 PM) - With only 12 players remaining in the Battle of the Nations event, the frontrunners are team Korea (Chino Rheem, Steve Sung, and Brandon Wong) with no eliminations while Team Canada and Hong Kong 2 both have two players remaining!

 

08/19/09 (5:00 PM) - Get ready for the latest innovation from the Asian Poker Tour as the JBET Battle of the Nations is about to get underway at the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau! Three-person teams from different countries will be competing for the money, the trophy, and pride and glory!

08/18/09 (8:30 PM) - Congratulations to Quinn Do, who becomes back-to-back champion of the Celebrity Charity Challenge at the Asian Poker Tour Macau! Quinn edged out Corwin Cole to rule the event for the second year in a row. Third place went to Nam Le, who also finished second in the High Rollers event earlier today.

 

08/18/09 (7:05 PM) - The action has come fast and strong at the Celebrity Charity Challenge as players are being eliminated left and right! Chris Parker, JC Tran, and Yevgeniy Timoshenko are just some of themany players who have busted out. Out of an original field of 40, only half remain after around an hour of play.

 

08/18/09 (4:20 PM) - It's a win and win situation at the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau as two side events simultaneously come to their conclusions! In the High Rollers event, David Steicke wins HK $1,000,000 when he hits a 9 on the flop with J-9 vs. Nam Le's A-Q. Over in the Heads Up event, Yann Pauchon's pocket sevens trump Igor Antropov's pocket fours for the victory!

 

08/18/09 (3:15 PM) - After Joseph Marchal goes all-in preflop and Zhou Yueqing goes in on a 4-5-4-10 board, David Steicke wins a huge pot in the High Rollers event by tabling 4-5 for a full house! The game is now down to Steicke, Asian Poker Tour CEO Chris Parker, and The Poker Pack member Nam Le.

 

08/18/09 (12:45 PM) - It's going to be a big day with big names at the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau today as the Celebrity Charity Challenge takes place later tonight! In addition, yesterday's Heads Up and High Rollers events will continue, with the Dafa888 8-Handed event also slated to begin later this afternooon.
