Quinn Do Wins Celebrity Charity Event at APT Macau

Quinn Do Wins Celebrity Charity Event at APT Macau

With just J-5 in his hand, Quinn Do eliminated the last of his competitors and walked away the winner of the Asian Poker Tour’s Macau celebrity charity poker challenge. Do’s hand trumped the 3-5 of Cantonese singer Renee Dai, who went all-in in an attempt to put a scare into her opponent and win some chips.

The night’s big winner, though, was the local community. As a result of the win, the Asian Poker Tour donated HKD $200,000 to local charity Caritas Macau.

The final hand was just one of the many highlights at the celebrity charity poker event at APT Macau. The list of participants in the game itself was an amazing sight all on its own. The cast of players included popular Cantonese celebrities such as Michael Wong, Renee Dai, Janice Man, Natalie Ng, Erika Yuen, and Tracy Ip. Cult glamour model Tila Tequila was also on hand for the celebrity game.

In addition, some of the world’s most well-known poker pros also participated in the charity event. Winner Quinn Do was joined by poker legend Doyle Brunson and his son Todd, Nam Le, JC Tran, Liz Lieu, and David “Chino’ Rheem – who placed third in the celebrity challenge. AsianLogic CEO Tom Hall also played in the game.

Despite not having much experience in poker, the Hong Kong starlets performed surprisingly well in the game. Model Janice Man provided the biggest highlight in the early parts of the game, knocking out both Doyle Brunson and Michael Wong at the same time with a full house. Later in the game, she also eliminated poker pro Liz Lieu.

Asked about her experience playing poker, Janice replied that she had only learned the game recently and that she had only played it a few times in the past. She added, though, that she would definitely play poker more and come back the next time the event is held.

Runner-up Renee Dai echoed her sentiments, stating that “I don’t have many tricks, but I understand the game a lot more now. There is so much skill involved.”
