Where and when will the APT Macau be held?
APT Macau will be held from 12-23 August 2009 at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau.

What is the buy-in for the Main Event?
The buy-in for the APT Main Event is HKD 34,400 (HKD 32,000 + HKD 2,400).

The game type for the APT Main Event is No Limit Texas Hold’em.

What is the minimum age to enter an Asian Poker Tour Macau event?
The minimum age requirement to play in any Asian Poker Tour Macau event is 18 years.

What is the maximum number of players?
We expect over 400 players to participate. We will accept alternates and late entries until the second level of play.

Is it possible to reserve seats for the main event?
Players can reserve seats by pre-paying, qualifying online and winning in land-based satellites.

How can a player pre-pay for a seat to the main event?
Payment will need to be made by close of business on Friday 7th August 2009. After this date, you will need to buy in at the venue. Next, send an e-mail to registration@asianpt.com advising that the payment has been sent, including the following information:
- the bank that the wire is coming from
- the person that the wire is coming from
- exactly what was specified in the "Reference" field of the wire
This will help us in locating your wire.
Once the payment has cleared, you will be allocated your first day of play, either Day 1A or Day 1B.

How can a player verify if his registration has been received and processed?
After sending us your payment information and once payment has been cleared, we will send you a confirmation e-mail that will state receipt of payment as well as the schedule of your 1st day of play.

Can registered players waive their rights to their seats in favour of somebody else?
If a registered player cannot make it to the event for whatever reason, they should inform the APT by phone or by e-mail. A paid player can normally waive their rights to the seat in favour of someone else granted that he provides the recipient with an affidavit of transfer and a photocopy of the registered player’s ID. Both these documents should be presented by the recipient along with the recipient’s ID during registration so that the transfer can be processed.
Online qualifiers should refer to the terms & conditions of the poker room from which they qualified.

Do I still need to register even though I'm only going to participte in the side events?
All players who wish to play in any tournament during the APT Macau Event are required to fill out a registration form and get an ID.

What identification do I need to enter an Asian Poker Tour Macau event?
Locals are required to present a valid photo ID while non-residents are required to show either a passport, consular identification, or alien registration card.

Can players pay for their buy-in using a credit card at the venue?
No. We will only accept the following modes of payment:

How will a player know that he has qualified for a registration promo?
Players will be notified via e-mail if they have qualified for the promo.

What will happen if a paid main event participant comes in late?
The player will retain his seat but play will continue. Blinds will be posted in the player’s absence.

What is the tournament structure of the Asian Poker Tour main event?
The structure will be as follows:
Starting Chips: $10,000
Level Duration: 1 hour
Pay-out scheme: Top 10% of the total number of players (Payment Schedule will be posted on the last start day of the Main Event). This is subject to change without prior notice.

Can eliminated players re-enter the tournament by re-registering and purchasing the HKD 34,400 buy-in?
Once a player has been eliminated from the tournament he cannot re-enter. It’s one entry per person per event.

What are the tax implications if a player wins?
Players are responsible for their own taxes if applicable in their country of residence.

Is there an area where people can watch the ongoing tournament?
Spectators can watch the tournament from designated areas.

Cash games at different stakes will be available for players at the Asian Poker Tour Poker Room on the 2nd level of the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino. During last year's Macau event, we offered the following cash games (all for No Limit Hold 'Em):

I have a paid seat in the APT Macau Main Event but would like to play in the satellites, what happens if I win another seat?
Players who have a paid for entry into the APT Macau Main Event and win another seat through a satellite can take the cash value or sell the seat.

GENERAL QUESTIONS
Can I use credit cards and foreign currency at APT Macau and the StarWorld Hotel?
Asian Poker Tour Macau cashiers will only accept Hong Kong Dollars and Galaxy StarWorld Casino chips as modes of payment.
The Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino though, allows credit card and foreign exchange:
Using a Credit Card:
The StarWorld Casino uses Global Cash Access (GCA) facilities for all credit card transactions. Only Visa and MasterCard are currently accepted (No American Express or Diners Club cards accepted)
A service fee of 3% is charged for the use of the GCA facilities. In addition, a valid ID is required.
Customers may obtain a pre-approval from our GCA kiosks before they proceed to the StarWorld Cage Cashier window for their funds. Otherwise, this can still be transacted directly at the StarWorld Cage Cashier window itself.
Foreign exchange:
Foreign exchange facilities are available at the Galaxy Starworld Hotel and Casino.
The following US Dollar series are not accepted:
- Series with the letters CB preceding the number.
- Series 1969, 1988 and 1990.
For players bringing in US Dollars, please ensure that the notes are free from:
- bank stamps
- pen markings
- tears / rips
- crumpled or stained

A variety of APT merchandise will be available for purchase at the venue. All Main Event players will receive a complimentary welcome pack.

NOTICE: Due to unprecedented demand, rooms at the Galaxy StarWorld for Friday, August 14, Saturday, August 15, Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, are now fully booked. All other days are still available for booking. Players affected by this may choose to stay at the Rio Hotel for the aforementioned two-day duration.
In addition, the Asian Poker Tour's special rates for the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel will be made available for all 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau players for the ENTIRE month of August.

What currency is used in Macau?
The primary currency used in Macau is the Hong Kong Dollar. This along with the US Dollar will be accepted for all APT Macau tournaments. The local currency in Macau is the Macanese Pataca (MOP).

Is there a dress code during the tournament?
Shorts, sandals and slippers are not allowed.

ENTERING MACAU AS A TOURIST
Do I need a visa to Macau?
Generally the answer is no; nationals from the US are allocated a thirty day visa free stay in Macau upon arrival. European and Japanese nationals are allowed ninety days visa free stay, and UK nationals six months. As with most countries, you will need six months validity on your passport. If you intend on doing business in Macau, as an increasing number of people are, you will need to apply for a business visa at your nearest Chinese consulate.

Ferries between Hong Kong and Macau:
Ferries run from the Shun Tak in Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island and from the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) in Kowloon. First Ferry runs the operation from TST, and Turbojet runs ferries from Hong Kong Island.
For direct transfer from the airport:
1. Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport (exemption from immigration procedure)
2. Purchase ticket / pre check-in/ produce baggage identification tag for baggage reclaim at Air/Sea Transfer Desk
(Passengers should transit to Macau on the same day upon arriving HKIA)
3. Head to designated Transit Hall for bonded shuttle bus ride to SkyPier (approx. 7 minutes)
4. Board TurboJET vessel to Macau
5. Go through immigration / custom formalities at Macau port
